The Android startup-smartphone gamble

One of the most interesting things about Android is the diversity and choice of hardware its open model enables. With software that any manufacturer can utilize, there’s practically no limit to the number and variety of different devices that can be offered under the Android umbrella — a sharp contrast to the single-manufacturer-with-a-few-similar-devices setup that other mobile operating system provides.

Both approaches have their own sets of advantages and drawbacks, as we’ve discussed extensively over the years. With Android, the platform and the device-maker are typically two separate entities — with Google’s Pixel devices serving as the current sole exception — and that means you have to think carefully about whose product you’re purchasing and what that says about the level of support you’re likely to receive over the course of your device’s lifetime.

Integrated into Microsoft Internet Explorer® for Windows®, netXtract delivers a breakthrough approach to document navigation and relevance determination. netXtract automatically indexes each document displayed by IE, extracts all contexts for any key term you choose and allows you to “jump” directly to the context you find most interesting. netXtract also allows you to define custom filters, or “dictionaries” of related terms by area of study, interest or business focus (e.g. medical, legal, financial, business intelligence, etc.). Build your own personal knowledge base Once you’ve found relevant information, you decide exactly what to save for future reference. netXtract allows you to build a local personal Knowledge Base of any text you select from documents displayed in Internet Explorer. You can also save to your Knowledge Base from any other application (MS Word, email client, etc.). netXtract’s Knowledge Base (KB) Manager allows you to categorize, maintain and query your Knowledge Base. Selecting any entry saved from a web document returns you directly to that point in the original online document.
